Ishwar and Maya We wish to present 4th Example through a improvised Story from VivekChudamani
Upnishad. Example Story- 4
The Pupil asked Guruji, does it means, nothing is existing, then how it is said, the Sat is everywhere, everything is full of sat i.e."नाभावो विद्यते सतः"
Guruji Replied "Dear Pupil, Sat (Truth or real) is always there, but the Asat (Not real) is never there, we do see and confirm the existence or presence of Asat, by seeing it, hearing it, touching it or from its smell or taste, but the reality is that it is never there. To know the truth you have to have Bodh of it, as you know you are existing, or you know you are sitting with me. The age, experience, knowledge gained through reading, listening or any other means, has nothing to do with, Bodh of Truth, it is all different from the knowledge gained in world. To understand, what I am saying, I am telling another story to you. You may be able to know how Maya works and how Gyan / Bodh remain uneffected by Maya.
Once a Mukhiya (head of village), and Main Priest of village were coming home, after attending marriage of another Mukhiya's Daughter of another village. Due to hospitality etc. it was late evening time, and on sky very small or half moon was shining, very dim light, just enough to know the way. It was village hence no street light too, nor Torch etc.
It was rain time, so they were alert, if some snake or harmful Scorpio can come, so they were keeping one wooden stick with them. Suddenly the feet of Mukhia, fall on a small pit, filled with mud water, he fall down and saw a big snake in front of him. crossing the way from one side to another side. Mukhia immediately got up and ran back, a shouted for help. people came and saw blood is coming from the nose of Mukhiya and Priest is also shivering with fear, people asked "what happened?". Mukhiya told, a very Big and poisonous snake has entered in our village. I saw, it was coming from Farms toward our village, might had ate some thing big, as it was surfing very slowly. Village people also got worried and some started shivering in fear, but some were brave and told, lets us see, where is it?, we must find it and kill it, else it can bit any one and can harm us. We and our family is not safe, if the snake is hiding in village. Few Month ago, one man also got bitten by snake, might be he is same snake, and now become habitual or addicted to biting human.
Mukhiya, brought them to the place, where he saw snake, snake was still there, slowing moving but this time it was moving toward Farm and some time toward Village. The brave people started throwing stone on it, some people threw water on it, as all village people knew, snake do not like to be wet, but snake was not getting any harm.
One old person, told that it is not an ordinary snake, must be king of Snake and King snake should be harmed, it can curse the village with Drought or illness or fire problem, hence stop throwing stone. Then all people asked, what should we do? Old man replied, do not do any thing but be together, and lets see on him directly, he will read our eyes and will go away, the Snake are very good in reading eyes of human. All people came together and started looking directly to snake, from a distance. mean while all village people gathered and asked about matter. They saw, that Snake now started moving fast, some time going ahead some time spreading his body like balloon, some time not seeing. Now Village people, know it is not a normal snake, and we must call all villagers. Some ladies started crying, after thinking of big problem, some started shouting, that it people are not doing proper prayer, hence God has thought to teach us lesson. Lot of noises started in village, and most males were at the place where snake was lying.
Every one in village was talking about snake, and they were holding kids, as they knew kids will run toward snake, due to curiosity. Suddenly few kid slipped away and went toward snake to enjoy the scene. One small kid, went ahead and caught the sanke, he told to Mukhiya, it is a rope, I picked it from road side, where some people were working on installation of Pillars, they threw a small corrode piece of rope, on road side. His mother did not allow him to bring that rope in home, as it was dirty and useless, so I threw it in field, and few dogs started playing with it, and left it here, I saw them dropping the rope here in evening.
Guru ji told, that little child was having Bodh of Rope, Bodh of Truth, and rest of world i.e. village people, who were learned and having all experience of life, snakes, ropes, etc. were trapped in the Maya or Illusion, and its effect was multiplied by their own knowledge as well as experience, they gathered in life. The Child has the Bodh, and it was knowledge he got by picking holding and playing that Rope.
Guru ji Stopped here and start telling, in slight darkness, every thing seems moving and we can not see edges of our door or clock, even if, we know, it is there and fixed, yet see it vanishing or becoming lengthy or moving. If any one, among the villagers, who tried to catch that Snake, he would have got only Rope. The snake, they were seeing, was shown to them by partial darkness and that snake was never born nor that snake could have children. Maya is like that, there is no snake (Jagat), we see it, we feel it, and we live it, yet it is not there, only Ishwar is there, and he is playing with Maya, and we are trapped to see maya only.
It is the time for you, to go back and try to understand, think and churn your thought and do not try to make your argument against the message of story, but try to understand why they are correct. It is the way you will able to learn and stablize your Chitt and go ahead for finding Truth.
Some other time, I will go toward Truth as told by God himself in Bhagwat and Chadogya Upnishad.
